"Shortcut"

I have one friend in my circle who despises(hate) shortcuts like a coffee lover despises tea, and her name is xxx. She does everything in a straightforward manner and was comfortable with the way of life. Everyone, including myself, thought she was stupid and laughed behind her back. We always thought taking the hardest and longest route was stupid and never had an opinion on it. Instead of working hard to obtain a WIFI connection, I chose to use my neighbor's connection by sneaking the pass code. Instead of cooking a healthy meal, I went out to eat. Instead of holding my girl's hand on a walk, I made her walk holding mine through a 1080p gallery portrait (Dumb right).

We avoided the bitterness of hard work by taking the sweet shortcuts. Shortcuts are appealing because they produce the same results. Shortcuts get you there faster and requires less effort, whereas a straight course of action gets you later with more time and energy. As a society, we become fixated on what is familiar as opposed to what is healthy.

"To get from a bad place to a good place, we have to go through a worst place," Mr. Humble said in a podcast. As he put it, it's difficult to be healthy if you don't taste bitterness.

We are living in an era where knowledge is consumed in mini-bytes. Rather than sitting through a two-hour lecture, we learn in a 10-minute group study with our peers. We avoid lengthy content in favor of a brief version.

We scratch the same itch of success by taking the beeline, but it brings resentment. Myself and two friends are a prime example. Never take a shortcut; it may save you time now, but it will cost you in the long run.

Thanks for Reading.
